Safe harbor animal rescue in Jupiter, Florida caught on fire in the early hours this morning. They are in desperate need of donations, foster homes, and adoptions. Right now all of their animals are in cages in the parking lot.

If you are in South Florida and have room for an animal, even just a temporary home, I urge you to head to the rescue and do what you can. If you have money or a skilled trade to donate, please contact them and let them no you are willing to help.

Safe Harbor is a non profit, no kill shelter, the only no kill shelter in the area that I am aware of, so any animals that they cannot find homes for will go to a kill shelter and from there who knows what will happen.

    You know, some of the people who use the service would love to have extra userpics, but are poor college students.

    Just to put a bug in your ear - it would be nice if you could have offers like 50 extra for $10 or something...and maybe you can include that as a different sale in case you want to raise donations for the shelter in the future.

    My heart goes out to all those people caring for those animals. I hope some people come out and offer to adopt or foster - now would be a great time.

    I can't afford much, but I donated what I could - softy and big animal lover that I am.

    Hey, so I just pointed at your perm account post from my LJ (cos more people still read me there, heh) and someone asked, wait, aren't perm accounts usually only $35? So how is this him donating?

    My answer was that I think last time they were for sale, they were $40 and I think at the time you said next time they'd be more, but it occurs to me you might, in your copious spare time, edit that post to say what the"usual" cost of a perm account it, so it's more clear to folks it's not just sort of $1.50 off.

    Or not, just a thought. :)

      Yeah and I am actually making less than $40 as I am donating half of the $75 that I am charging. And you are correct I did state that they would be more expensive next time I offered them.

    Squeaky, I know you're still busy with fixing bugs from the code update, but when you have a minute, can you read through the information I posted here and maybe let us know if you have to give permission for this site to access IJ or if they are just pulling public data.

    I don't know if there's anything you can do to protect your users, but I wanted to make you aware of the situation.

      They have contacted me before. They are a journal aggrigator, and no they cannot access protected entreis unless a user gives they their password, which we strongly advise against.

    Just a heads-up, but I'm sure you've heard of the Content Strike planned over on LJ For Friday? A lot of strikers are planning on coming over here to party.Just thought you should know.
