What happened (quick and dirty version)
Here is a quick and dirty version of what happened. I will post a detailed account to annoucements later. I am posting this here for rumor control.

Monday
- Called host inquiring about how to cancel servers under contract (databases were still under contract web servers were not). Was informed by faxing in a form I could cancel the contract. I was led to believe that I would be able to cancel servers separately at a later date.
- I faxed the form to get the ball rolling.

Tuesday
- Woke up to multiple text messages and email stating site was down. Logged into to hosting control panel to see both servers deleted.
- Called support to try to end cancelation, they informed me that only billing can handle that and billing is only open M-F 9-5
- Called billing and was told that the forms I sent in were for server termination and they did just that without emailing or calling me. I gave them quite a piece of my mind, but was told that they did nothing wrong. Even though their rep gave me bad info.
- Eventually got ahold of support and managed to get them to save my hard drives from the old servers.
- Had to order new database servers

Wednesday
- New database servers were finally ready
- After wrangling with support for about 4 hours I got the old drives in the new servers
- Got servers up and cleaned the databases and made backups of them immediatly
- Brought site up
- Fixed error with 1 webserver causing issues

Can't thank you enough for taking care of the problem so quickly. And your updates on Twitter were really appreciated - it was terrific you made the time for it in the middle of all the stress.

Really glad to be on IJ.

Thanks so much for keeping us posted. I was pretty scared that they had erased stuff yesterday morning, but Twitter was really a comfort. You're fantastic for caring enough to tell us what's going on, and you can never hear too many times that you are a wonderful admin! ♥

Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this site. I'm sure your head is pounding at this point.

I saw your note about purchasing paid and permanent accounts. Will be gifting as I can. I hope in the future virtual gifts might become a part of insane journal.

And it may just be my opinion, but a ticker thing for fund raising does not seem like money grubbing. It sounds like a logical solution AND for me a way to help pay back for the hard work that is put into insane journal. Paying for a service that you get enjoyment out of....not a hardship at all.

Anyway, thanks again for your hard work, determination and excellent job of keeping us updated.

I still say it's not your fault.
You were given what you thought was correct information, therefore, it's the REP'S fault.

I would purchase a paid account to support the move if I could afford it. Right now, I can't even afford my bills. XD

Thanks for keeping us updated on the status of the site via twitter during the outage.

[info]squeaky you're the best. Thanks for all the hard work and the Twitter updates.

I'm seconding all the beer and sleep suggestions. You've more than earned a holiday in Margaritaville.

I really wish that I had the money to pay for all my accounts on here, instead of just my writing and my personal one. Because I would do it in a heartbeat. I love my gaming journals here, they mean the absolute world to me. If I wasn't on SSI and struggling to make it as is, I'd gladly donate as much as I could to paying for every single last one of them, or at least as many as I could.

However, sadly? I've overdrawn to my limit at my bank right now. :[

I don't have anything new to add, but I think it's important that you hear it again anyway ;-)

You're doing a great job and thank you so much for it! You've handled this brilliantly, keeping us up to date and working fast to get things straightened out *glares at provider rep*

I hope to be able to buy some gifts for friends soon so I can support the site more.
