I have decided to nominate myself for the LJ Advisory board. As we do run the GPL version of the LJ Source code here, I feel that it would be in InsaneJournal's and every other "LJ Clone" out there's best interest to have our voice on the panel.
If you agree with me and want to get my name on the ballot. Go here and support me if you feel that I deserve to be on the ballot for this board.
If I actually do manage to get nominated I will post something to
announcements
Edit:
It appears that I already have the 100 comments necessary for nomination, but please keep commenting your support (only once per user please). That way at the very least LJ will see that it's users also want support for sites outside of LJ that use it's codebase. And that the FOSS (Free Open Source Software) movement is still alive and well!

Good luck to you.
It used to be a very open thing and Brad would let us commit our own code into the source to be used on LJ and all other sites, but we cannot do that any longer.
changes that LJ makes to its (now closed) code are not automatically and unilaterally incorporated into insane journal as far as i can tell (ie, infrastructure is completely separate).
is this correct at all?
thanks for the explanation!
A Vote for Squeaky is a Vote for Openness!
I can only hope that the LJ administrators learn to be as open with their userbase as you are with IJ users.
If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to be added to

Thank you for directing me to the proper channel!
I wish you all the best in your endeavors to make InsaneJournal (and LiveJournal) better services.
I thought it would be cool to use the symbol for Open Source to represent you, Squeaky. There's also the dual meaning of "openness" with the userbase that I'm hoping to convey here. But I'm sure there's plenty of creative folks here that can come up good alternatives.
Other candidates on LJ are setting up "campaign headquarter" communities on LJ. Have you set one up yet? If not,
I really, really want you to win (PS, Istanbul is awesome!) and I want to make sure that there a number of other people who can actively campaign for you... do you have any thoughts about who you might like us to ask?
Awesome! I sent her an e-mail! Also, I was looking at the comments on the nomination posts, and I think you just might have the most support comments of anyone there. W00t!
A friend of mine just let me know that when she tries to get to the site, she gets a popup ad and sees banner ads both on the side and on the top of the page. The popup is apparently a new development since last night and is from tribalfusion. I don't see popup ads nor banner ads, regardless of whether or not I'm logged into the site and I have a free account. Do you know if this is an IJ thing or an individual computer thing?
