[info]insanity and I are heading to visit my Family in VA in a few hours. We will have laptops if anything goes wrong, but if the site is just running a bit slow, please bare with us. Chances are its doing the backups and such and will clear up in a bit. We will be near the Lynchburg (specifically Blue Ridge) area of Virginia. Anyone got any suggestions on things to do or see?
  • Have a safe and fun vacation!!! :D
  • Depending on how long you'll be here, come to Roanoke and see the Mill Mountain Zoo, and the Mill Mountain Star. We're only 45 minutes or so away, down 460, I believe it is.

The Department of Transportation Museum if you like big trains and such. The city Market has great food places and local artisans for shopping.}:P

Take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway too.
  • Ooh, Lynchburg. I'm here going to school. The National D-Day Memorial is in Bedbord (30ish minutes from Lynchburg), too, if that would interest you. :)
    • and, er, that would be Bedford instead of Bedbord. Oops. :)
  • Have a fun and safe vacation.
  • We've a few state parks in that general area. Holliday Lake and Smith Mountain Lake State Parks are two of them, though Fairystone is not too far southwest of SML, too. There's a parking fee, but it's fairly low (park dependent, usually $3-5) and most parks have at least a few miles' worth of hiking trails through the woods, along the waterways, etc.
  • Have a safe and fun trip!
  • I agree with Wolf: definitely go to Roanoke and see the Roanoke Star! ^-^ They also have a really nice farmers' market down in the city on weekend mornings, if you like that kind of stuff. And tons of little boutiques and small-owned shops and whatnot. If you like Thai food, I definitely recommend Tong's Thai while you're there (if you go to Roanoke xD).
  • I hope that...

...both you and [Bad username: insanity"] have a great time while on your visit. *big smile*

Also hope that you and yours are doing all right, that things are going okay, and that the rest of the day goes all right for you all.

God bless and take care. :).

  • Please ignore this until you get back from your vacation.

    - I got what looks like a ringtone advertisement as an anonymous comment. :( No link, though, so I don't know what they think to accomplish. Will now turn on IP logging.
  • I don't mean to sound like a bitch, but why does IJ STILL delete comments from certain entires? Can something be done about this ever?
    • Please read the latest post in [info]announcements. This is a known issue and it is being worked on. It is a very complex problem and the solution has been difficult to find.
  • If you ever have a moment, would you be able to look into what's going on with this username? I never have problems with my personal one but with this one, I encounter many problems. Sometimes it tells me that the server is unavailable, but only when trying to access this journal. Other times, when trying to reply to comments, I receive this message: This part of the database is temporarily down for maintenance. Try again in a few minutes." and my comments don't post at all. I've also had icons randomly disappear. Is this username corrupted somehow or just in a part of the database you happen to be working on? I don't mean to be a pain, it's just weird that it only happens when logged into ~leonardo. Thanks for your help...
  • Is it possible to join the asylum "announcements?"
  • I'm having some weird account inconsistencies between my email and at least one account I didn't create or ever have anything to do with and I was wondering if I can pm you about it because I took some screencaps and I'd like to know if you can look into it for me?
